Fact-Checking & Verification Policy — SRMD Indian News
*Last updated: April 2026*
SRMD Indian News is committed to publishing accurate, verified information. As an Indian digital news publisher covering celebrity finance, automotive data, commodity prices, and current affairs, we recognise that much of our reporting involves numerical claims, price data, and financial estimates that must be rigorously checked before publication.
General Verification Standards
Before any article is published, the assigned journalist must ensure that:
- All factual claims are supported by at least one credible, identifiable source.
- Numerical data (prices, net worth figures, statistics) is cross-referenced against at least two independent sources where possible.
- Quotes are verified as accurately attributed to the named speaker.
- Dates, names, and titles are confirmed.
- Photographs and images are verified for authenticity and proper attribution.
Celebrity Net Worth & Financial Estimates
SRMD Indian News publishes research-based estimates of celebrity net worth, income, and brand endorsement earnings. We acknowledge that these are not confirmed personal financial statements.
Sources we use: Publicly available financial data, corporate filings, BCCI contract disclosures, film industry trade publications, Forbes India, Hurun India Rich List, and media interviews.
Sources we do not use: Unverified social media claims, anonymous blog posts, or single-source estimates without corroboration.
Disclosure requirement: Every net worth article must include a visible disclaimer stating that figures are estimates based on publicly available information.
Automotive Price Data
Ex-showroom prices are sourced from the manufacturer’s official website or authorised communication. On-road prices are calculated or sourced from authorised dealerships in the specified city — we note that on-road prices vary by city due to road tax, registration charges, and insurance. Mileage and specification data is sourced from ARAI-certified figures, manufacturer spec sheets, or independent test results.
Daily Commodity & Fuel Prices
SRMD Indian News publishes daily petrol, diesel, gold, and silver prices through an automated data pipeline (HDF AutoPub).
Fuel prices: Sourced from IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL daily price bulletins.
Gold and silver prices: Sourced from IBJA, MCX, and local jeweller association rate cards.
Our data desk performs daily spot checks to confirm published prices match source data.
Breaking News and Trending Stories
- We do not publish unconfirmed rumours as fact.
- If a developing story has unconfirmed elements, the article clearly states which facts are confirmed.
- Articles are updated with timestamped notes as new information becomes available.
- Wire service reports (PTI, ANI, IANS) are treated as credible initial sources for breaking news.
Corrections Process
When a factual error is identified, we follow the procedures in our Corrections & Retractions Policy. Readers may report errors to editorial@srdmgroup.com with the subject line “Fact Check Request.”
