Ethics Policy — SRMD Indian News
*Last updated: April 2026*
SRMD Indian News is committed to ethical journalism. This Ethics Policy sets out the principles of professional conduct expected of every journalist, editor, contributor, and data reporter working under the SRMD Indian News masthead. It is guided by the Norms of Journalistic Conduct laid down by the Press Council of India.
Core Ethical Principles
Truthfulness — SRMD Indian News journalists pursue the truth. We do not fabricate information, invent quotes, or present fiction as fact under any circumstances. Fabrication is grounds for immediate termination and public retraction.
Fairness — Our reporting is fair and balanced. When covering disputes or allegations, we make reasonable efforts to obtain responses from all parties involved before publication. If a response is not received despite a reasonable attempt, this is stated in the article.
Independence — Journalists at SRMD Indian News do not accept gifts, payments, travel, or favours from sources, subjects, or potential advertisers that could compromise their editorial independence. Small promotional items are acceptable but must be disclosed to the editor if the item exceeds ₹2,000 in value.
Accountability — We accept responsibility for our journalism. When we make mistakes, we correct them (see Corrections & Retractions Policy). When readers have complaints, we address them (see Contact Us).
Plagiarism
SRMD Indian News has zero tolerance for plagiarism. All content must be original or properly attributed. Copying text from other publications, press releases, or online sources without attribution is a serious ethical violation.
Conflicts of Interest
Journalists must disclose to their editor: personal or familial relationships with the subject of a story, financial interests related to a story, previous employment with an organisation being covered, or any other circumstance that a reasonable reader might perceive as a conflict. The editor will decide whether the journalist should recuse themselves from the story or proceed with the conflict disclosed in the article.
Privacy and Dignity
SRMD Indian News respects the privacy and dignity of individuals. We do not publish private information unless there is a clear and overriding public interest. Celebrity net worth articles are based solely on publicly available information. We do not publish photographs of minors without parental or guardian consent, except in cases of clear public interest.
Hate Speech and Discrimination
SRMD Indian News does not publish content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group based on religion, caste, gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, or nationality.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
SRMD Indian News may use artificial intelligence tools in its editorial workflow — including for data processing, research assistance, and content drafting. When AI tools are used to generate substantial portions of an article, this is disclosed. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and verified by a human editor before publication.
